Talk to a Stranger Week at Humber College

Connect, Win, and Build Your Future!

Welcome to Talk to a Stranger Week (TTSW) at Humber College! From November 18-24, let’s come together to bring more connection and community to our campus. Imagine the impact if every student took a few moments each day to connect with someone new—whether it’s a smile, a quick hello, or a friendly conversation. These small actions can make a big difference, not only in others’ lives but in your own well-being too!

Why join Talk to a Stranger Week?

Led by your fellow Humber students, TTSW is a chance to step out of your comfort zone, strengthen your social health, and build meaningful connections. Research shows that the social connections you make in college often stay with you for life—forming the foundation for friendships, professional networks, and even future family connections. So why not start now?

Speed-Gaming Extravaganza! (November 20)

Want a fun, low-pressure way to meet new people on campus? Don’t miss our Speed-Gaming event on November 20 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Lakeshore Learning Commons cafeteria! Grab a seat, pick up a game like Headbands, Guess Who, or a simple deck of cards, and let the laughs and connections flow. Make friends and have a great time with your Humber community. Bring a friend or come solo—just bring your smile and be ready to have some fun!

Face-to-Face Conversations & Sticker Giveaway

Keep an eye out for the TTSW team around campus all week! We’ll be handing out stickers and chatting about the importance of connecting with new people. Every sticker is more than just a fun design—it’s a conversation starter. Wear it on your bag or notebook, and see how many fellow students recognize it! It’s an easy way to signal you’re part of TTSW and ready to connect.

Everyday Tips to Make a Connection

  • Say Hello! A warm greeting can open the door to a conversation. Try it with someone in line at the café, a classmate, or a peer in the library.

  • Ask & Listen: A simple “How’s your day going?” or “What are you studying?” shows genuine interest and can lead to a meaningful chat.

  • Smile & Make Eye Contact: Sometimes, the smallest gestures say the most. A smile is an invitation to connect and can brighten someone’s day.
